In this project, we’re giving neutral laundry baskets a fresh and sophisticated look with a gradient fade and delicate floral stencil designs. Whether you’re looking to enhance your home decor or add a personal touch to a functional setup, this DIY project is a simple yet effective way to elevate everyday objects.

Materials Needed

Montana GOLD spray paint in your favorite colors (we used two shades of turquoise and two shades of salmon)
Neutral laundry baskets (plastic or similar material)
Floral stencils of your choice
Drop sheet to protect your workspace from spray mist
Mask and gloves for safety
Low-tack adhesive or stencil spray (optional, to help keep stencils in place)

Step-by-Step Guide

Prepare Your Workspace

Find a well-ventilated area to work in, preferably outdoors or in a space with good airflow. Lay down a drop sheet to protect surrounding surfaces from any overspray. Put on your mask and gloves before you begin painting.

Create the Gradient Base

1. Shake all Montana GOLD cans well for 2-3 minutes until the mixing balls move freely inside.

2. Start by lightly spraying the bottom half of each laundry basket with the first shade of turquoise or salmon. Hold the can about 20-30 cm away from the surface and use even, sweeping motions for a smooth fade effect.

Apply the Stencil Designs

1. Position your floral stencil carefully on the painted area of the basket. If necessary, use a low-tack adhesive or stencil spray to keep it in place.

2. Using light pressure, spray the stencil area with a contrasting color. Hold the can at an appropriate distance to avoid paint bleeding underneath the stencil.

3. Slowly lift the stencil off to reveal the design. Allow the stencil to dry completely before repositioning it to another area. Repeat as needed.

Finishing Touches

Once all stencil work is completed, let the baskets dry thoroughly. If desired, you can add a clear matte or gloss spray from the Montana TECH line for extra durability.
